Stewart V. Fontaine, a professional yacht captain for more than 30 years, has joined Merle Wood & Associates as a yacht broker. Fontaine has worked aboard yachts such as the popular charter favorites 223’ (68m) SYCARA V, 230’ (70m) MARTHA ANN, 180’ (55m) MIA ELISE, 168’ (51m) LAZY Z, and 105’ (32m) SENSATION, and private yachts including 196’ (60m) BACARELLA, 150’ (46m) MAUPITI and 97’ (30m) OSPREY.

Fontaine will specialize in the sale, purchase, charter and construction of 50m+ motor and sailing yachts. He joins Merle A. Wood in representing SYCARA V, a Nobiskrug superyacht built in 2010 and sleeping up to 20 guests in 8 staterooms.
As a highly qualified megayacht captain with an impressive list of credentials, Fontaine has cruised extensively around the globe and has an intimate understanding of the complexities regarding international Port/Flag State and Classification Society regulatory requirements of large yacht operations along with EU importation and VAT.
He also is knowledgeable in the in-depth operation of luxury yacht charters from all aspects and has a thorough understanding of the industry standard charter agreements, having completed a myriad of successful charters during his career.
