The Prestigious 2018 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

As the largest in-water yachting event in the world, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show offers yacht enthusiasts the chance to view some of the most prestigious yachts for sale and charter. Spanning 7 locations around the city, the show offers an impressive array of tenders, yachts, and water toys, along with top industry-related exhibitors. A noteworthy change in the show this year is the new entrance to the Bahia Mar location, which is several hundred yards north of the original, just south of the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2018: Explore Fort Lauderdale

Although the most well-known fact about the city of Fort Lauderdale is its penchant for hosting some of the largest superyachts in the world, there are plenty of other elements that make it a great place to visit. Superb dining experiences are spread throughout the city, including plenty of waterfront dining; and for a more local experience, Las Olas Boulevard offers many restaurant choices along with a row of boutiques and shops.

Nightlife in Fort Lauderdale can be casual fun or more formal, depending on preferences. For those who are spontaneous and just want to pop in somewhere for a cold drink, there are pubs and cafes all the way up and down the beach. For those in search of a more formal experience, the hotels along the beach have roof-top bars, and posh lounges.

A stroll along the charming Riverwalk is always a calming experience, as you watch boats navigate the New River. For those who love to learn when they are in a new city, the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society features tours of early 20th century buildings. With something for everyone, Fort Lauderdale is one of the most diverse cities in Florida.

Created by a highly experienced owner, and built by Abeking & Rasmussen, the 199’ (60.90m) EXCELLENCE V has a huge gross tonnage of 1,632 (unique for a vessel of this length) and provides the spacious living and entertaining environment of a much larger yacht, while still allowing access to the world’s most exclusive harbors. Special features include a private owner’s deck, a dedicated cinema room, as well as a central glass guest elevator servicing all five of her decks.

Also built by Abeking & Rasmussen and delivered in 2007, the iconic 190’ (58m) LADY SHERIDAN has had the same owner since she was launched. With accommodations for 12 guests in 6 staterooms, she features interior and exterior design by Donald Starkey, who created spacious and comfortable areas both inside and out. Also on display, the classic Feadship yacht, the 188’ (57m) MINDERELLA, has undergone a recent, double-digit million-dollar refit. Her refreshing interior is by Yacht Next, who chose neutral tones with pops of bright color throughout, and her vast exterior decks impress with plush furnishings and plenty of options for dining, relaxing, and entertaining.

The 171’ (52m) NITA K II built by Amels will be in the area, and boasts exterior design by the renowned Terence Disdale, with interior styling by Alberto Pinto and Laura Sessa. Abundant with entertainment and social spaces, her 4 decks feature many options for al fresco dining and relaxing in the sun. A centered, raised Jacuzzi on the sun deck is surrounded by lounge beds, and offers 360-degree panoramic views of the ocean.

As one of the finest performance yachts available on the market, the sleek, 153’ (47m) SEA RACER is a one-of-a-kind Feadship that reaches 34 knots at top speed. With an impeccable maintenance history, she accommodates up to 10 guests in 4 staterooms, including an on-deck master stateroom and a full-beam VIP suite. Yet another Feadship yacht on display with Merle Wood & Associates is the 153’ (47m) DAYBREAK, which accommodates up to 12 guests in 5/6 staterooms. Designed by De Voogt, she features interior décor by Lavor, who chose light-colored woods and neutral-toned furnishings with hints of green throughout.

Sleek and speedy, the 153’ (47m) BALISTA features a colorful palette of soft furnishings, both inside and out. Built by Cantieri di Pisa, she sleeps up to 14 guests in 7 staterooms, including a large VIP that can double as a second master. Outdoor social spaces are abundant, and include a large main aft deck with a partial hardtop, as well as a vast bridge deck where most outdoor dining will take place.

At 140’ (42.67m), NEVER ENOUGH retains her Feadship pedigree with carefully thought-out details and the ultimate in guest comfort. With minimalist interior décor by Paola D. Smith, she features comfortable furnishings and a seamless layout that includes a spacious country kitchen for casual dining, a full-width salon and a formal dining area. Accommodations for up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms include an on deck king master, 2 queens and 2 twin staterooms. The 131’ (40m) M4 built by Trident is also on display with Merle Wood & Associates, and boasts over 7 feet of headroom and oversized windows, giving her the appearance and feel of a much larger yacht. And, with a recent $1MM price reduction (now asking $6,900,000) she is one of the best values in her class.

As one of the unique launches from Millennium Superyachts, the 118’ (35.97m) semi-raised pilothouse ARTHUR’S WAY was built entirely of fiberglass. Designed by Frank Mulder with interior décor by Evan K. Marshall, she accommodates 8 guests in 4 double staterooms, and features a split-level master suite with a large dressing area, a full-beam VIP, 1 queen and 1 twin. A large swim platform offers easy access to the water, and stores the yacht’s water toys.

As the third hull in the successful Horizon P110 tri-deck series, the 110’ (34m) REBECA is a modern and elegant vessel that accommodates 8 guests in 4 well-appointed staterooms. With her recent refit, she has been refreshed with new soft goods, fresh cap rail varnish, and full exterior gel-coat polish. Her seamless layout, impeccable finish, and spacious exterior decks make her the ideal family yacht on which to entertain, and create lasting memories.

Built by Sunseeker and launched in 2009, the 86′ (26.4m) PERSEVERANCE II is the ideal family yacht. Incredibly spacious, the yacht features unique amenities not found on others in her range. Well-appointed accommodations are for up to 8 guests in 4 staterooms, and include 1 king master, 1 queen VIP, and 2 twins, each with its own en suite and entertainment system.

Built by Vicem, with an interior by Jane Plachar, the 85’ (26m) ESSENCE OF CAYMAN is a classic, down-easter style yacht coupled with modern form and function. Accommodating 6 guests in 3 staterooms, her king master stateroom features the creature comforts of home, including a vanity and a walk-in closet. She has two large salons – one on the main deck, and one on the lower deck – as well as a generously sized indoor dining area. Outside, guests can enjoy al fresco meals on the large main deck aft. Also on display with Merle Wood & Associates is the Hinckley-built 55’ (15m) FORE ACES. As one of the Talaria series of yachts by the renowned builder, she sleeps up to 4 guests in 2 staterooms. The stunning yacht boasts a flybridge with a hardtop, and was recently refit in 2017 with new paint, soft goods, interior woodwork, and fully serviced machinery.

The classic 33’ (10m) Riva Aquariva SLAPPER has been meticulously maintained, and is in outstanding condition. Making the perfect day boat or superyacht tender, the sleek, fast yacht features state-of-the-art technology, and boasts an innovative electronically controlled two-speed gearbox, which increases the acceleration of her twin 370hp Yanmar engines that offer low original hours. With a top speed of 41.5 knots, she provides outstanding performance and a comfortable, smooth ride.
